Built a new comp the fans worked and the power lights came on but it never posted. I figured it may be the motherboard so i was about to take it out and get a new one. While unscrewing the mobo i noticed that 2 screws took very little effort to unscrew, could that have been a reason why it didn't post?

More about : loose screws motherboard post

Two common things to try before doing that whole guide: Did you plug in the 4/8 pin cpu power at the top of the mobo and did you put the right pattern of standoffs in?

Why not just tighten the screws and try again?

Yes and Yes. My case has nubs in some areas that's suppose to be used as standoffs.
