I'm trying to recover my thinkpad supervisor password according to the instructions found here
http://sodoityourself.com/hacking-ibm-thinkpad-bios-password/

A quick summary of the situation: The password is located on the Atmel chip on the thinkpad mobo, and the only way to recover the password is to solder some wiring directly to the Atmel chip and manually read it from a second computer. The wiring from the Atmel chip must be soldered to a serial port 9 pin female, which is then to be attached to the second computer.

The only part I don't understand is the part where he tells you to connect the serial port 9 pin female to the computer. As far as I can see, my mobo has no female serial ports. When I try to look for a usb/pci to female serial port adapter on ebay and amazon, they only have usb/pci to male serial ports, but none to female.
He also mentions that you can salvage a serial port 9 pin female from a ps2 mouse, but I don't see how you could possibly attach the ps2 mouse to your computer after you solder the wiring to the one open end of the mouse.

It's a bit of an odd read diving straight in with no context. If you read the whole thing, kudos to you and you have my thanks in advance.
