Hi I have an Alienware x51 desktop running Windows 7. I had accidentally deleted my recovery partition and I want to set my computer to it's factory settings. Every time I try to create a system repair disk I'm unable to. All I really want is to have my computer start fresh. I have my disk with the OS on it to re-install. Can anyone help me out? It's turned out to be a frustrating mess.

Put the OS disk in then restart the computer, as it is starting up go into the bios, usually you press "del" or "f2" to get in. Then find the boot priority section and change the first boot device to the DVD rom drive. Save and quit. The computer should restart and give you the option to boot from disk, it usually says "press any key to boot from disk" or similar. Once you start the boot it should give you a step by step walk through as you proceed and the option to format the drive will be in one of the steps.
