Hi, I wish to upgrade my build (aprox 4-5 years old)
My main aim is programming and gaming, but also reduce the budget to what is effectively needed, so what I would immediately appreciate or what would make this build life considerably longer
I don't need a graphic card, I've recently upgraded it and still can run everything I wish to play at good resolution. My main issues with my actual build are loading time, low RAM and generic slowness of OS
I'd also like to move to solid state HDD for OS if there's a good enough offer

Approximate Purchase Date: next week
Budget Range: Around 700€/950$ After Shipping
System Usage from Most to Least Important: programming, basic graphical design, gaming. Fast startup and responsiveness are major features for me
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: CPU (+ cooler), mobo, RAM, PSU, optionally solid state SSD (but don't count it in the total 700€)
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: anything else that ships to Italy without big charges
Location: Italy
Parts Preferences: Intel CPU (I need a specific feature for virtualization of Apple OSs that is guaranted only on intel CPUs)
PSU at least PLUS 80 Gold and possibily at least partially modular.
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: NO
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: NetBeans, Photoshop, Skyrim, X-Com, VMPlayer running Lion OSX are surely the most used programs. My case has the pwr supplie on the bottom, so I will need one with long cable
Why Are You Upgrading: Because my work laptop has become faster than my home PC, and that's quite unacceptable

I posted the exact same question on february and received two very good answers but wasn't really able to buy them right away. Now I'm ready again and I would like to be sure to have up to date informations

The problem with shipping from a German site is that you'll get hosed big time with huge shipping fees, not to mention customs fees and import taxes associated with importing goods from another country. It's better to buy locally. If you check the sticky at the top of this forum I created there should be several Italy-based stores to pick from.

Actually this is not completely true. The difference in shipping cost is at most 10€ and in UE there's no custom fees anymore (there are not even custom checkpoints anymore).
In fact everyone I know that assemble his own build most of the time buys from Germany or Austria. Not only because they have better prices (more then 10% lower), but also because they have better products. For example, as I mentioned in my request I made the same enquiry on this forum in february, and Noob12 (thanks again), suggested two sites, an Austriac and a German one. One didn't ship to Italy unluckily, the other shipped to italy with 18€ (I never payed less then 15€ even from my own region). Most importantly Noob12 suggested a very goos Super Flower PSU that I didn't know of, because in Italy Super Flower is simply not distributed. I just checked all the italian shops from the sticky post (yes, all of them) and in fact I didn't find any Super Flower PSU. I found some similar product, but not any modular PSU AND Plus 80 Gold around 90€. For that money you get modular OR Gold.
So I would really prefer not to restrict the advice you can give me to the products that can be found in Italy, because they are not always the best available.
I'll check all of them my self to see if they got a better price before I make my order.
