there is a "feature" on ur laptop that locks the mousepad so that you don't accidentally touch it when you don't what to. it sounds like you have activated it accidentally and don't know of the feature. look for a button or a touch sensitive button that might look like a mouse pad with a slash through it.

its normally one of the F(Number) keys sometimes you need to Press Fn as well. Like He said it looks like a picture of your trackpad. If you cant find it post the model of your laptop.

take a picture of the laptop's keyboard/mousepad area, post it, and I'll tell u what to press.

(Pavilion g7-1167dx Notebook PC).......... The little indent on the mouse pad is there but don't know what else to do. It also has a little light right above it that is not on now.

The double tapping of the mouse pad didn't do anything nor did the light come on.
