just got a pc bundle which included an asus motherboard, 680w power supply and geforce graphics card.
the problem is that as i press the on button on the case the led light stays green on the motherboard but the case lights, fans and cpu fan stop after a second with a little beep

could you please suggest some possible problems that could be causing this?

tried it but the exact same thing happened the cpu fan sort of twitches more than rotating where the other fans in the case do full rotations for the same amount of time

A quirk that can happen sometimes is that the cord powering the cpu fan is actually touching the fan and physically stopping it from moving. Just confirm that your fan blades are unimpeded and that the cpu fan header is completely plugged in.

After that easy confirmation it made its time to start at the beginning
Before POST comes Power Good
Power Good is for the PSU and CPU
Try starting your system with only the PSU and CPU and CPU fan connected.
If your system now Produces Beeps then the problem occurs after POST starts and you can now focus on other components.
If the CPU fan will still not spin you should consider a few possible causes:
CPU is not installed correctly/damaged
MB damage related to the CPU socket or main power connector
PSU is bad or not connected correctly (does it have a switch on it? what is it set to?)

Disclaimer: all of the above is assuming that you have used standoffs for attaching the MB to the Case

ok so i do use standoffs and tried turning the system on with PSU, CPU and CPU fan. the green light came on on the motherboard but the CPU fan still likes to turn about a fraction before stopping. there was no beep when i powered on this time
