ok I was wondering if I should OC my CPU since I OC my GPU
I have i7 3770k and gtx 680 with maximus v formula
atm I have the gtx set at
138% power
+100 gpu clock offset
+650 mem clock offset

I was thinking that but reading about overclocking the cpu seems hard, used the precision x and overclocking the gpu was very ez...my first time overclocking so I really don't want to screw anything up

Hi,

Even a moderate OC to 4.5 would bring up your minimum frame-rate in most games, if you can manage the heat, I delidded my CPU and replaced the TIM with CoolLaboratory Liquid Pro gave me HUGE temp drop. Have Fun

You can overclock the CPU just by changing the multiplier setting to 42X and set the CPU voltage to 1.25 It will most likely boot, run prime95 to see if it is stable. I never use turbo or offset (I know its the best) I just set a voltage and a multiplier. If it does not boot you just reset BIOS and try with a little more voltage, IF you have a good heatsink. I use a 300Wat+ Tower cooler with 3 140mm fans and I was reaching the thermal limit of my chip at about 4.6, after delidding I can hit 5Ghz and not be overheating at all.

Your board is designed for overclocking.

Consider using the graph below to overclock your CPU:

I have corsair h100i...did alil research and with the MVF mobo it made the OC of the cpu as ez as the precision x for the gtx, atm it's running 4.5. I have prime95 running the stress test, coretemp and cpu-z...was reading to let it stress test for about 15 mins to as long as 24hrs witch sucks because I want to play my games

ok I OC the cpu to 4.5 but it stays around 1.6 on idle and with my GPU im not getting the same benchmark test results each time I run one. im using unigine heavendx11 3.0 and overclock scanner from evga, I have my card set
138% power tarfet
+125 gpu clock offset
+650 mem clock offset
getting around 101 fps with the evga oc scanner and anywhere from 45-55 fps with the unigine heaven dx11 benchmark
