Hi there, certain games like GTA IV and now Metro Last Light and Xcom Enemy unknown have been crashing for me lately. And by lately I mean since I purchased them. I have a suspicion that it's Windows 8.

My specs are:
i7 2600k 3.4
ASrock p67 pro 3
16 gb ram
Windows 8 64 bit
Nvidia Geforce gtx 660 ti. I had read that DX 11 games can be from overlcocked video cards, but using the Asus software that came with my card I lowered the clock speeds to what is required (or so I think anyway, new to tweaking)

My most recent error in the event viewer is: Faulting application name: MetroLL.exe, version: 1.0.0.2, time stamp: 0x5194eb76
Faulting module name: nvwgf2um.dll, version: 9.18.13.2018, time stamp: 0x518fe653

My last error with GTA IV is:

Faulting module name: dxdiagn.dll, version: 6.2.9200.16384, time stamp: 0x501092f3

Report Id: 9135293c-c7cb-11e2-be84-0002723f7b33

I ran updates to the latest version of drivers possible, also using the Driver Reviver tool and straight from Nvidia for the gpu drivers

--Update. After a reformat and installation of Windows 8 along with a bios update on my mobo, I have not received a BSOD again, however I haven't had a chance to test my games yet.

Best solution

If you still get bsod. try running the games as administrator and increase priority before playing to high from task manager.
