Can someone help me on setting up multimonitor trading pc.
Ive created a basic list here My list - List]http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Dinesh/saved/1F7I]List of components and cost[/url]

I want to set up 3 monitors initially and later on upgradable to 4 then to total of 6 monitors.

CPU is fine with me i need advice on Motherboard (can handle additional graphics card ) Graphics card(Ill be rendering charts and trading software like Ninja Trader so not looking for high end gaming but for something to have 6different monitors having float able chart windows), Casing, anything missing.

I can take advice on LED monitors to reduce cost. Im looking for mountable screens on monitor mounts like ergotron. Anyone having Trading PC canyou recommend on cheap good quality led monitors.

Thanks

As long as you aren't spanning something over 3 screens I'd say you would be okay. I don't particularly care for cheaper monitors. I would go with a IPS panel over your standard LED displays. Something like this for example. Provides a IPS LED display has every type of input under the sun. You can rotate, pivot, and swivel the display/s and comes with ASUS ARR which means that when something goes wrong with your display when you RMA the device they pay for it and send you a new one as you send the device back. I like this monitor because you can go portrait or landscape and because the stand is really sturdy as well on top of its other features.

I don't think you need color accuracy, uniformity, or even viewing angle for trading screens, so I can't see spending extra for IPS.

I would strongly recommend you go to a local shop for the monitors, then if one fails you have an easy way to return it. Just make sure they have the VESA mounting.

A wireless adapter doesn't make sense here. You need a solid, speedy, and reliable internet connection. Spend the money on cable instead.

Here is the card you want,

more screens may increase his productivity
better overview of everything

6 display ports requires 6 monitors with native display port support :)

They need to be ACTIVE adapters...

They always run well over US $20 each. Here is one example
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999031

Or a mini DP to DVI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999034

I think you might be able to have two not active, so you could save a little... but we are usually talking about DVI ports then, and I'm not sure about DP. I see some reports that the first two DP ports can use the cheaper adapters.

By going with the card I linked you can avoid that, because it supports but then you need to add a second card to run more than 3. Here is a review that explains the "flex" series... you can hook up 3 DVI monitors with no extra adapters.

Thanks everyone for contributing.

Im looking for cheap graphics card since it will be running charts only with minimum specifications. Only thing I want is a reliable, ability to use 3-6 monitors and quiet graphics card.

Wireless adapter I’ve got as a backup 2 in case cable has some issues so I can use my existing one to manage the trades. I’ll be looking to upgrade to 2 internet connections later on.

Few more questions.
Q1- Guys can I use 1 cable connection on two desktops? If I can then ill be looking on separating my charts and trading pcs.

Q2. With Charts PC – 3-4 monitors. Do I need 2 Graphics card for 2-4 monitors?

Q3. Trading PC 1-2 monitors. Do I need graphics card for max 2 monitors?

Q4. Will it be good to have 2 graphics card. And how many monitors the system can support with 2 graphics card. and which motherboard?

One thing i want to add is that the system will be running for 12-14 hrs daily.

Thanks

Q1. Yes, you absolutely could. If you used a Kvm switch you could use 1 cable connection to switch keyboard, mice and in monitor.

Q2. You in theory only need one as long as its nothing intensive you will be fine with one. However that being said it would be wise to get something like the Flex cards as they are more flexible with anything beyond 3 displays.

Q3. If you went to 2 monitors you wouldn't need more than one graphics card however even with 1 you could go up to 5 to my knowledge there are Sapphire Flex cards that can go to 4

and any card here

Q4.
Would depend on the card you had. Normal eyefinity supports up to 3 normally with one card the Flex cards being the exception. Also, nvidia surround which I believe is supported with one card can go up to 4 however is more costly normally and and the multi monitor ecosystem isn't as strong.
In the end I feel that it would be more prudent to get a good single card that can support the monitors you desire 2-4 because adding more cards would be overkill to what you are after.

And in terms of how long you intend to run your computer that is fine.

Yup Q1 was about having one internet connection on two desktops via cable.

About my initial build i'm leaning towards FirePro or Quadra for graphics card. It seems one card can accomplish a lot and they are a lot quieter. Also CPU im thinking for switching to Intel Xeon E3 Has someone used them in combination with the above Graphics cards and with which case and power supply.
