You need to replace the cmos battery.

It is better not to turn off the Pc at the power source, you need the trickle of power from the wall to maintain the bios settings otherwise it relies on the cmos battery. When the cmos battery is drained, all the bios settings revert ot the default settings, including the Time & Date, this then, on some branded PC's, causes a block to the OS until you change the bios to the required settings. Sometimes just changingt he Date/Time still won't give you access until you also set the correct settings for other options including the boot priority ...

Best to set the primary boot to the hdd.
