Right know I have a FX-8000 series and I have been hearing good things about Intel Haswell. I never stepped out of AMD's hands and was trying to get my feet wet on Intel by trying the Haswell.

Any thoughts appreciated

- FX 8100 or FX 8320 or FX 8350?
- Haswell won't be worth the money for you if you're just gaming. Now, throw in programs that use transactional memory a lot or AVX 2, and we're talking... Those programs are rare though.

Haswell is a bleak 5-10% performance increase over Ivy Bridge. If you have the FX series, it is better for you to stay where you are at and wait for Steamroller instead of upgrading for marginal performance increases.

- Haswell's L3 cache is the same as Ivy Bridge. IPC remains the same, but keeping the pipeline full with different software supports also grows benficially.

- No word of when SR comes out; should be early next year sometime though.
