Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP- My computer is crap and I need a new one really quickly.
Budget Range: 1200.00$ Canadian before Rebates
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (Minecraft, Arma 2 and 3, DayZ), Recording, Skype chats, Netflix
Parts Not Required: I need all the parts, starting from scratch. The possible exception would be Speaker System, although I do not know if you help people find good Speaker Systems. Just being safe.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference but I've heard that NewEgg is good so I guess there?
Country: Canada
Parts Preferences: AMD/NVIDIA Video Card, 16" Monitor, and I'd like a large Hard Drive (500GB-1TB?) for storing records, large game files etc, etc.
Overclocking: Maybe
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe
Monitor Resolution: 1280x1024
Additional Comments: I'd like to have a quiet PC for late night Gaming and not waking my flatmates. However not needed if it will add a couple million to my budget. :)

Would you prefer a 16", 1024p monitor over a 23", 1080p monitor? Because it is easily within budget to get a good monitor.

The bigger the better, so as long as it's within my price budget, the 23" is great.

Can do. One question: I read your post as requesting an AMD CPU and an nVidia GPU. Is this correct, and, if so, how flexible are you?

Oh, my gosh, sorry. I dun goofed! Really new to computer building, like really new. I don't know the difference between those besides that one might be a processor and the nVidia is probably a video card. Anyway, disregard my preferences because I don't know what I'm talking about. Just build it as you would yourself in my scenario, I suppose!

That looks good, very nice. Thank you! I will wait on more suggestions so I can have a lot of good opinions for my final purchase. I'm wondering, what's all the hubbub for Solid State Drives? I heard they make things boot faster and are pretty good etc etc. I don't know what they are or how they work so some help would be appreciated. Also, how do I build a computer? I'm watching a bunch of NewEgg tutorial videos and they seem to explain a lot, are there any certain videos I should watch to gain more knowledge?

Thanks for your time! :D

No problem you're welcome! As for ssd yes they are good.Nowadays, I think every PC should include an SSD period. They’re waaaaaaaaay faster and they draw less energy, but unfortunately they do cost a significant amount more than a traditional hard drive.

Those who have some extra budget laying around, I’d definitely suggest going with a 128GB Samsung 840 Pro or 256GB Samsung 840 Pro in combination with a 1TB Seagate Barracuda. This will allow for plenty of hard drive space for storage while OS and application files may be placed on the SSD for that extra top notch performance. As for pc building tutorials i find this one best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea_bs5G1yYU

As you can see, not too different from bigcyco's, but it includes an OS if you need it. If not, you could bump the GPU up to a 7970.
