Hello,

I recently build my own gaming PC, and all the games i play run smoothly without any problems (cod black ops, team fortress 2, Counterstrike go,...)

But for some reason battlefield 3 causes problems, it does not always happen but when it does the game is unplayable. I get purple textures and long black bars fill up my screen to the point i can't see anything anymore.

All the settings are on ultra, i have "Nvidia Geforce Experience" installed and it recommended to set everything on ultra.

My gpu card gets about 70-76 c° while playing BF 3 sometimes lower, depends on my room temperature.

My pc specs:

GPU : Nvidia GTX 660 msi

CPU: i5 3570K

memory: 8 gb ram corsair

Motherboard: p8z77-v pro s1155 asus

I overclocked the i5 3570k to 4.40 Ghz thinking that it will solve the problem but it did not.

I've read somewhere that i need to underclock my gpu, but i have no idea how to do that, i actually don't know how to overclock but thanks to AI suite, it did it for me. Everything runs stable after i overclocked it so i don't think its cpu but i can't be sure so i'm asking you guys :)

I have added a picture of how my game of how it looks when all the textures get all weird and purple BF3 PURPLE//

I will try this, but are there really no other solutions then underclocking my card ?
Its kind of a shame to buy a 200 € card and then have to underclock it.:(

Underclocking is mainly for testing. It might be defective requiring replacement.

I had the same problem in the game 'Arma Tactics' (from Bohemia Interactive) and the problem was solved by disabling the option 'Fog of War'.
I am not sure if the same or similar option is available in BF3, however there is a good chance that after some option(s) is/are disabled the problem is resolved.
