Friends Is it good to use WD Caviar Green 2 TB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (WD20EZRX) model hard disk ?

Secondly may i he to upgrade my PSu for this Since i will use it along with WD 160 GB hard disk

Current PSU Is VIP 450W Model

Solution
if you are a Gamer this, drive is not recommended

WD Green hard drives are tested and recommended for use in PCs as secondary storage, external enclosures and other applications that require cool and quiet operation.

I have a couple 2TB greens in my home workgroup for storage and they are reliable little drives but to my understanding they shut down when not in use therefore if your trying to run an operating system off of one of them it can be kind of sluggish and laggy. Reason it's bad for gaming is strictly because of that reason. They idle down and up which is Western Digitals Intellipower to help with power consumption. Plus there read/write isn't the best either. Personally even the blue's can be a tad bit on the sluggish side as well. Now the blacks are speedy mechanical drives that are great for gaming and running operating systems and even for storage as well they are noisy but who cars they really are sweet drives. And if you really want some speed get yourself a Solid State hard drive to run the Operating system 64 gig drives are about 50-70 bucks right now and use the mechanical western digital's to store all your files. Then your flying. And to answer your power supply question I think your ok right now with the 450. Just my 2 cents hope it helps

Its my understanding that the reds dont spin down and park the heads like the green's do (which causes the green drives to appear to be very sluggish). Doing this would make them unsuitable for use in raids.

bro your PSU is enough to hold 4 of those drives :) ... besides WD20EZRX is from Green family and features "IntelliPower Technology" which is highly efficient in energy saving and since you will be using it for backup storage, there should not be any issue of performance either!

Honestly yes Western Digital has yet to fail me in years of usage. They have always made great drives. I also have/had a couple of the Toshiba 2 TB drives and those seem to hold there own as well. I've had one in another computer for storage for a solid year non stop running and it has yet to die out. Lately my luck hasn't been too good with Seagate for some reason. But to play it safe stick to Western Digital for long lasting life they stand by there products with warranties too.

Be careful though. maybe.
I use greens for bulk storage and they seem to be fine, but many people for some unknown reason claim that green drives are less reliable than others, and that they should be avoided. I have no idea why this is true (I have submitted a discussion for it) but a lot of people think so, so keep that in mind.

Yeah they say that because they stop and go stop and go. I've had a few for storage and they are great hard drives. Reliable as can be I have a lot of faith in western digital. It's that intellipower that they use that makes people frown because they do that whole stop and go. There not a WD black speed wise but it's still western digital just set up a tad bit different.

Yepp all mechanical hard drives make noise, some noisier than others. It's just the heads doing there thing but when your not doing anything with it there as quiet as a church mouse. Plus another thing as far as noise goes too depends on your case if your using a cheap case or a factory has the hard drive isn't mounted as solid can also cause a lot of noise. When I swapped over to my Corsair C70 case the only thing I hear is my fan's and that's barely anything. All in all your all good just remember those things are spinning at a high rate of speed. And until SSD hard drives are cheaper and affordable it's something we are all going to have to deal with to hold are larger files.

bro that means no issue with hard disk ?
its when we use to write data on hard disk then little bit sound comes and when i stop writing sound disappears

Doesn't sound like an issue sounds like a regular green drive to me. Here's a question what'st he sound it makes ? is it a clicking or power up power down noise ? Or is it just a spinning noise ?
