Hello,

I will be purchasing a keyboard if I do not get one from a friend used, which is the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate and I love the blue switches on them. They feel really nice and have nice macros, if there are better feeling ones with good macro keys possibly for the same price or cheaper I would love to know, Thanks.

My Budget is $0-$150

dont let anyone fool you.. cherry my blues can be used for gaming perfectly fine. everyone has their own preferences and may prefer certain types of keyswitches over others. you may or may not follow the trending i list below.

in general cherry mx blue (tactile and audible) are ideal for typing. if you dont like the noise you can get browns (tactile only).

in general cherry mx red or black are ideal for gaming since they are linear (not tactile or audible) however typing on them is far from ideal.

for a general use keyboard i...

Well currently I have a cheap $10 logitech keyboard, also I have used the blue switches on that Blackwidow and they feel and sound really nice but I have not tried other mechanical keyboards other than a buckling spring one. So on a personal standpoint, which switches are better for gaming if blues are not?

Well, I've heard that reds and blacks are great for gaming (browns too?). I prefer my blues tho - great combination for gaming and typing. I personally don't like to have to press that hard on my keys. If you like more resistance, definitely try out reds at least.

if you have a fry's near by or micro center? they have some mechnical keyboards you can demo personally

I see you like macros and whatnot..and that is fine... I don't.. I have two mechanical keyboards a WASD V1 MX-Brown (w/ dampers) and a Rosewill 9000 with mx-reds (w/ dampers also)

I personally perfer browns but the reds are ok also... personally i hate blues however.. it is just so subjective... if no best just best for you and your use case.

I do love my WASD V1 .. those guys are very nice (and sent me free replacement keycap when one of my keyboards keycaps had a bit of a flaw when i got it...very nice support and I just love this thing)

The rosewill seems really nice also...and they can be pretty cheap (mine was a steal...newegg lost their minds ??? and had it for $24.99 w/ a Celeron D combo..BHAHAHAHAHA????) only reason i bought it was ... it was $25~ kinda had to really???

I have used Ducky keyboards also .. very nice

and you may wish to check out coolermasters mech keyboards (they have like 1,000,000 different models seems like now..)

other popular brands filco ($$$$) ..Leopold.. and probably stuff I'm not thinking of now.

for me having tried both costar and cherry stabalizers (on space bar ..etc larger keys) I much prefer to have costar stablizers...

When it comes to a keyboard you shouldnt be cheap...You need one that makes no noise while typing and one that will take a good charge..if you can afford $200 bucks then you bought the best keyboard the logitech Dinovo edge this keyboard is a Class act the keys act like a expensive laptop and a full charge with every day use will last you 4 months the piano black finish is amazing and there's tomany features to mention...least check it out

for a general use keyboard i would have to suggest blue or brown.

which version razer blackwidow? the older version or the newer 2013 version? i've heard of issues with the backlight on the older models but they do use normal drivers. the new version fixes the issues i believe however it must use the new razer synapse 2.0 which sucks.

as listed earlier wasd does make a very good keyboard however it doesnt have macros built in. i personally use one with mx blues

a keyboard which is similar to wasd but does offer backlighting and macros are keyboards made by maxkeyboard.

the new logitech mechanical keyboard also may work however i dont have much info on this model.

No need to revive this thread. Actuation force isn't the only thing one would look for in a mechanical keyboard and is generally unhelpful. Each switch type feels (and sounds) different.
