VGA port not working on new desktop

Solution

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that you can't plug in your monitor because your graphics' input doesn't accept a VGA plug? If so, then buy a VGA-to-DVI adapter.

If you're saying that you've plugged the thing in and it still doesn't work, then that's a whole nother issue that I couldn't even begin to try to diagnose based on the info you've provided.

I've plugged the VGA cable in but it doesn't work, what info would you need me to get to find the problem? I know the monitor works fine as I've used it with my laptop. The desktop I'm trying to fix won't pick up the VGA cable's signal, HDMI works fine though.

I had the same confusion with my newly built gaming pc, but after i had a look inside, if u see the graphics card and follow it to whereever it appears outside of ur pc, u should see another HDMI port and 2 other ports behind it, u have to use that untill u install all the drivers untill the DVI, VGA and HDMI will work.
So basically there is 2 HDMI ports, one connected to the motherboard, once connected to the your graphics card, use the one thats connected to the graphics card, and use that untill u install all ur drivers
