So I decided I needed to buy a new PC, so I got all my parts, and picked them up. I'd built a PC before, but I consulted several guides and got similar answers through each of my steps. So I've got everything plugged in, but when I turn on the power supply, and press the on button...nothing happens. Regardless of if I press the power button or not, lights on the GFX card and mother board turn on. I'm stuck, anyone got any suggestions?

Solution
Definitely a common thing but not a problem at all. You may need to clear CMOS which is responsible for your onboard memory for hardware configurations. Look at the user manual on your motherboard and it will tell you where your CMOS is located. On more inexpensive boards, you may use a jumper pin (supplied with the motherboard or is already on the pins) and configure it to the motherboard's instructions on what CMOS pins to cover up. On more high end boards, you may find a button to clear CMOS.

You may have to do this a few times because usually people tend to clear CMOS incorrectly the first time.

Since your computer is powering on, that is a very good sign. Especially if you don't hear any beeps, etc.. It means everything is in...

Since your computer is powering on, that is a very good sign. Especially if you don't hear any beeps, etc.. It means everything is in working order and you just need to reset/clear CMOS for it to re-register the hardware configurations properly.

What motherboard do you have by the way (brand and model)?
