Hi new here, i hope i'm posting this in the right place.

my problem is this i recently updated my computer to the following specs

(fyi my motherboard supports ddr2 and ddr3 memory dual channels)

Mobo: P35 Platinum Combo 1333fsb
Cpu: core 2 duo 3ghz, 1333 fsb
graphics: geforce 8500 GT(ddr2 512mb, 500mhz)
Memory: ddr3 4 gig total (2x2 gig) dual channel(1333mhz)

it had been

Mobo: same
cpu: pentium 4 3ghz
graphics: same
Memory: ddr2 2 gig (1x1 gig) (667 mhz)

my motherboard goes through my graphics card in order to boot up, it doesn't have graphics built into it. so i have to have the memory set just right in order for the motherboard to visual display bios on screen. changing it to other settings often leaves me with blank screen boot ups.

in order to get my ddr3 memory to work i had to set my fsb/memory configuration to 1:1.50 (999mhz) and 5 5 5 15 before switching the ddr2 out for the 3. otherwise my screen would be blank on boot up.

once that was done everything seems ok and I loaded up windows 7, but what happens is it randomly is now giving me a blue screen of death. (is that dubbed as BSOD?)

Windows says there is an instability in the memory, various crashes of firefox seem to confirm this.

-any idea based on my specs what might be causing my systems instability?

-also i noticed something different in dxdiag, my display memory/graphics memory is now 1907 mb... i'm not sure why this changed from my previous installation of windows. it use to be 512 mb...???

- do i need to list any more specs about my rig?

And what is the exact name of the new and the old CPU?

How long can you run your system before a BSOD approximately? Does it happen if you are in idle or is it just during applications?

Be sure to run Memtest for a few hours (but the more, the better), then if an error occurs, it will show it. You could also try another OS and see if it freezes, too.

Install it to an USB stick, it also contains Memtest. If you don't know how, there are documentations, which are very helpful.

So far it could be either the RAM or the PSU. I think it's the first, but let's try out.

how can i post some pictures i took of my comp's bios in the thread? i was hoping to copy and past them from word but that doesn't seem to work.

i think if you see my cell menu setting it might put my problem into perspective.

You can't post it in the thread directly, however you can upload it at a hoster, like http://imageshack.us/
Then either post the link here or you post the image over the URL.
