My 1st Gen Razer Mamba is on its way out the door, its been roughly 4 amazing years but I am starting to feel the left button stick a little.

So I have been doing some research into gaming mice and the market has expanded quite a bit since I bought this one.

Some info: I play primarily FPS, with some MMO on the side. I like HIGH DPI mice. Whenever I am at a friends house and I use their lower grade DPI gaming mice I cringe on the inside. Also I like them heavier. I like to actually feel the weight when I move my mouse. I am not sure of what grip style it is but I move my mouse with my wrist primarily. I used the diamond Back mouse back in the day and I DO NOT wanna go back to a claw grip. Lastly, I do not like Logitech's line of products, I know alot of people swear by them but I do not like them at all.

Some of the mouses that I have been looking at:

Roccat Kone XTD.
-I LOVE the DPI on this bad boy. However I have also heard some nto so great thinsg about the company as a whole. I have heard their products feel cheap overall and that the mouse wheel breaks frequently. Is there any merit to this?

Razer Ouroborus.
- Again this looks like a beast gaming mouse. I love the customization of it, plus the amazing DPI it offers. However I have some concerns.
A) it's a Razer product and from first hand experience their quality control is trash. I have ordered 4 headsets from them, 3 keyboards before I finally realized that I just got lucky with my mamba.
B) It seems overpriced
C) It does not seem to be available to the public yet and waiting might not be an option.
Commenst on any fo those points are appreciated.

Steelseries
- I have heard very positive things abbot steelseries from friends, however none of them are actually gamers and buy whatever Blizzard/Activision tells them to.
What seems to be the premiere mouse in this lineup to even look at ? I keep hearing things about the sensei but they have been mixed. I have heard that they have a kind of cheap feel to them. Also, the 5700 DPI pales in comparison to the others I have mentioned.

Razer Mamba
- Maybe I struck gold the first time aroudn and should try for it again? Is the mamba still king of the hill or has it faded into the background?

ROCCAT User here:

Let me input some things

I used the Kone+

Originally, I had issues with it, like the scroll wheel skipping and the fact that it is laser

then I got the XTD

It has the new Titan Wheel, which fixed the scroll wheel and I found the laser to be more accurate (Like less than 2% accel, no prediction, sorta like the Razer Deathadder if you ask me). Overall, it fixed the problems I had with the Kone+. It is by NO means Cheap. But it is worth the investment. Take your pick

As for build quality, it is a non-slip matte finish, definitely not cheap, but definitely doesn't serve as much justice as rubber like from Steelseries/ Razer. And then there is Razer... You might have to be lucky to get it to last that long probably from what I've heard. Don't get them wrong though. Some people have lasted 2 years with their products.

As for the other mice, off the top of my head, I can suggest to you:
-Razer Deathadder
-Steelseries Rival/ Sensei MLG
-Logitech G9x/ G400s (Depends on your grip)
-R.A.T 7 if you have comfort problems
- Anker High Prescision 8200 if you want a good alternative

Wouldn't recommend anything else (I've tried some of them). As for your DPI fetish, optical mice will have their advantages, and you might have to deal with lower DPI's than you like. If it fails, just go for the Deathadder

In case you were wondering about Deathadder vs Kone XTD, here's what I have to say...

Deathadder: + Comfy ( for most hands) with Rubber for extra grip
+ lightweight
+ high OPTICAL DPI sensor, that also very precise
+ Lightweight clicks, and ideal sized thumb buttons
- Build Quality
- Razer Synapse 2.0. Ugh
- Barebones

XTD: +Lighting effect
+ Heavy, which improves hand strength IMO
+ Intiutive Drivers, nothing online
+ EasyShift for more buttons, less clutter
+Omron Micro switches for durablilty (aka no "double clicks")
- Laser sensor, may not be as good as optical
-No rubber (doesn't bother me, I can grip it just fine)
- Maybe too heavy (sometimes I feel restricted due to weight)

Overall: The XTD, but the Deathadder is still convincing because of its accuracy and comfort. Pick your poison
