Hey guys,
I need help so I am going to cut right to the chase. I'm having sound issues in certain games, in Grid 2 it starts fine, intro/menu sounds are fine, but once I am in game the sound is fuzzy and crackly. In Battlefield 3 I only hear background ambient noises like vehicles and gunshots, but my sounds cutout or are mute (footsteps, my gunshots, my vehicles, etc.) and this only happens in online play. These are the only games I've had issues with so far, but nothing works right. My headphones, monitor speakers, and surround setup all crackle or have sound cutout. And I'm not entirely sure these issues are related, but I haven't found any solutions.

Now here is what I've tried...
I installed the Nvidia HD Audio drivers back when I got my GTX 660, and they were installed along side the on-board SoundMax drivers that install automatically. So I removed all Nvidia sound drivers to see if they were conflicting, no change.
I then did the opposite (Nvidia HD Audio drivers w/o SoundMax via HDMI) no change, no sound at all in fact with that setup.
Then I checked Asus to see if I had the right drivers, and they have no sound drivers on their site for Windows 7 64 bit.
After that I tinkered with the quality, enhancements, volume, and all other settings I could think of, but no change.
In desperation I removed AVG, all sound related programs/drivers and let windows install automatically, but still no change.
I've dug through various forums for hours these past few days, but have yet to find a solution.

My speculations...
Zune sound is superb, as well as Youtube, streaming, VLC, all other media has no sound problems except these two games, this leads me to think it could be these games that both happen to have problems (since Grid 2 just came out).
I have also considered a soundcard, since it would take any audio load off the CPU, but again, its only these games so far.

So here are my specs...
AMD Phenom II X4 965 (Deneb)@ 3.8Ghz
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
-On-Board SoundMAX ADI AD1988B codec
-BIOS revision 5002
MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr
4GB DDR2 RAM
Corsair TX750 PSU
Samsung 17" 720p monitor/tv (ln19a450)
