Hello. I have DFI lanparty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G AM2 motherboard with an AMD Athlon X2 5000+ (AD50000DJ22GI) chip. 4 gigs ram, 550w antec PSU Gigabyte 9800gt GPU. 40G sata HDD and wireless card (have tried two different Wifi cards). This is a "new" build from parts I have had. It boots properly and seems to run fine but will not connect to an ethernet cable or even recognize that it is plugged in. I have tried to connect via wireless network card as well but that is also not working. I have tried in windows & and Ubuntu and cannot seem to get the system to recognize the presence of an internet connection and/or hardware to support a connection. What am I missing? please help. I really want to get this build online and usable.

On The mb cd that came with the mb is some drivers. You have to install the mb chipset driver first then reboot. Then your USB drivers if there a third party chipset on the mb and your network drivers. Also with new mb check that the onboard Ethernet and sound chipsets are turned on in the bios.

You should try to get your hands on the motherboard drivers.
Check what motherboard it is and download all the drivers, Chipset,Ethernet, audio etc.
Start with the chipset and work your way trough.

And for the wireless, there should be some sort of software for it.
Check the manufacturers webpage for the drivers/software
