Hello

So i'm pretty much a noob when it comes to psus. So i'm always confused on what psu to buy. My specs are:

i3 530 (Oc'ed to 4.00 GHz)
4gb 1333Mhz RAM
Proprietary Dell mobo(33FF6)-getting haswell when it launches
2gb GTX 660
Windows 8 Pro

So what I wanted to know is which psu should I buy? I am thinking of a Corsair GS500, which means I won't be doing SLI until Haswell comes out. Please give relevant answers.

If you're planning on overclocking it's best to buy a quality PSU that has good voltage stability, transient response and low ripple rather than one which simply has a lot of current driving capabilities.

http://www.hardocp.com/ does some very good PSU tests, but I can tell you with confidence that the SeaSonic X series PSUs are the golden standard for overclocking. Many PSUs that SeaSonic manufactures for Corsair, XFX, and Antec are based off this design. They are all 80 PLUS GOLD rated and fully modular. They will set you back a few bucks, but will last a very, very long time and will easily carry over to future PCs.

So according to your solution, i've come down to 2 solutions: the Corsair AX650 and Seasonix X650. Gonna be buying it for some oc'ing and sli; so which is the best ?

The AX650 is manufactured by Seasonic and is based on their X series platform. It is nearly the exact same unit as the X650. It's a solid buy, so get whichever one is cheaper.

According to your motherboard you have Inspiron 580, just one question - how you managed to overclock, considering Dell locked BIOS?

One of my uncles work in Dell and got the BIOS unlocked for me. He still won't tell me how.

Same thing with my M17x R3, it's just a matter of flashing a custom BIOS ROM to access all the stuff that Dell locks away.
