As the summer encroaches, I'm going to change my case from a generic mid tower (Bitfenix Merc Alpha) to the aforementioned Coolermaster HAF XB cube-mid-tower-thing.
I've done quite the bit of research into this and posting here is part of it. Rocking the Thermalright Macho 120 cooler: http://www.thermalright.com/html/products/cpu_cooler/ma... thats 150mm high. Now, the HAF XB is said to support CPU coolers up to 180mm. No problem there. But I want to get a 200mm fan for the top of the case, most likely as an exhaust. That would be the Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm (Black, LEDless)http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14436/fan-926/BitFeni... with dimensions of 200x200x25mm. So thats 25mm high when mounted horizontally on the roof of the case.
So, just to be sure I havent missed anything critical, 150+25=175 so the HAF XB would support both the cooler and fan without any obstructions. Side note, im thinking on what configuration to put the fans in. I was thinking 3 intake (2 front, 1 back) with the top exhaust. Thinking what to do with the CPU cooler or to just leave it as it is fairly passive-compliant.
