This is the first time I've posted on this site.
This is also my first overclock project.
I tried to overclock this x8600 core 2 extreme procssor on a Gigabyte DQ6 motherboard and no overclock, or even underclock settings are working. I've set different voltages and tried different multipliers. I've even tried increasing the FSB by tiny ammounts (5 or 16). None of which allowed the computer to boot into windows. What I got instead, was a screen that shows some kind of PCI loading information (black screen w/ white text). That's the screen that the "boot" got stuck on, every time I tried some kind of overclock/underclock. I bought this board and processor specifically to overclock, and it's not working.
Any help would be appreciated. I sure hope I haven't gotten myself into any broken equipment.
Please don't tell me to get a different, or newer, computer. I am building an arcade machine, and I don't want to stick the "latest and greatest" computer in there.
