I recently purchased this graphics card and seem to be having problems with it. It almost always crashes when running games. It's completely useless at the moment.

It does reach 70C to 80C then crashes. However even with massive amounts of cooling the card still seems to reach rather high temperatures. The cooling with the card makes absolutely no difference and is completely useless.

I have deleted all previous drivers and reinstalled latest drivers but it has had no effect. I have a new Corsair GS700 PSU which works fine. I also tried a Thermaltake PSU and had the same problems where the graphics card would crash. I was wondering if anyone could offer any help or advice.

Have you tried downloading MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision to properly monitor the fan speed and temps???

Yes, I use MSI Afterburner to monitor it's temperature. I have also used it to adjust the fans in the hope that it would have some effect but even at 100% it seems to make little difference. Not sure if it's temperature related but it does seem to crash when it reaches 70C and over.

Well normally I would start thinking, PSU problem. But you say you have tried a different PSU and it does the same.
What about CPU temps while gaming, what do they reach???
Also is it just 1 or 2 games or is it all games???

It happens with all games. I have actually tried 3 PSU's with the same results on all of them, black blocks start appearing on the screen then it crashes.

The CPU doesn't seem to get above 50C, although the game isn't running long enough for any temperatures to build up, only the graphics card which reaches about 70C then crashes. The CPU has been higher before and there's been no problems. Not entirely sure it's temperature related but there does seem to be a connection. Whenever the GPU has to work hard it crashes, I'm not ruling out the possibility that the card is faulty.

Do you have anything OC'ed???
Have you tried the card in a different PCI slot???
Can you try the card on a different rig???
When you play games, what settings do you run at???
Personally I would trying to clear CMOS to see if some setting it making it unstable.

It's weird as your temps are well within the average working range. If a CMOS clear doesn't help, it might be a case of RMA unfortunately :(

The PC it's currently running on is an AMD FX 6 core Bulldozer. I'm unable to try it on another computer or PCI slot. It seems to happen on all settings, when it hits 70C or above it crashes. It looks as if something is failing at those temperatures. The only thing overclocked is the graphics card but it comes that way out of the box. My old card works fine but it's nowhere near as good as this one. I may send the card back and get a replacement, if it still happens then I'll know it isn't the graphics card but it does seem likely that it's faulty.

I also tried the XFX support site but it's all badly translated into English. Hopefully a replacement will work. Thanks for all the help. If problems persist then I'll most likely be back.

Yeah it's a huge pain but I can not think of anything else, it's really strange :??: It's a shame you can't try it in a different rig, but then saying that from what you've said I don't honestly think it would be any different.
Personally I would RMA it, it's a pain but if it's crashing constantly then it's more or less unusable anyway so it's the best option.

Well I'm sorry I couldn't help ya find a fix for it. Post an update regarding how you got on with the RMA and the replacement, I'll keep a track of the thread.

Good luck man, take it easy.
