HD 7950 vs HD 7970

I'd say if you're going for a resolution of 2560 x 1440 then you'd best go for

as high-end a GPU as possible. Because if you're also wanting to do things like

play games at high or medium settings, the GPU has to be good. As in, while both

will play games at high settings, adding in a high resolution adds to the woes of the GPU.

So the more powerful the better. It might last you a tiny bit longer to go for the 7970 too.

As for if you can tell the difference, I kind of doubt it.

Depends if you are doing Gaming, Video Editing, etc...

Spec wise, the 7950 can reach to a close overclock up to 7970. The problem is that your choice of the 7950 is the reference model which may heat up quite fast and stay pretty hot for the duration. If you can find a non-reference 7950 like ASUS DirectCU, MSI TwinFrozr would be best. Otherwise i would say to stick with the 7970.
