Hello,
recently I'm having problems with my fan (maybe due to several config changes) causing the computer to shut down while I play videogames due to overheating.
My fan is always running at a low speed (doesn't change with temperature)
I've tried many utilities like speedfan and acFanControl, didn't change anything.
I don't know how to change fan settings on bios (the menu that opens when I press F2 while the PC is booting doesn't contain many settings, only booting stuff)
What should I do to set my fan's speed to maximum? (I don't care about the noise)
Thanks for your help.

I have currently no time to disassemble my computer (must disassemble a huge part of the acer travelmate 5247G to acess the fan)
I tried to clean it with a vacuum from the outside (got some dust out but didn't change the speed)
I found some hints on bios-mods about the bios advanced mode in my acer but I didn't find any DL links.
I would like to change the fan's settings for now (boost it a little bit)

i know this thread is way too old but still decided to share my experience since i have the same laptop and i was having similar issues with it while trying to play some of the "heavier games" such as Lineage II, Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 3, Terra, Dragon Age Inquisition. So get a gas duster (shouldnt cost more than 3-4 euro depending on your location) and use it monthly to clean the laptop. Use cooling pad (always), preferred one of the more powerful and have your laptop plugged in (not on battery). make sure to turn off unused programs while gaming (such as torrent downloaders). do not use software that claims to boost extremely your game performance. And if still laptop overheats then its time to open it for complete cleaning and replacing thermal paste
