Hai there!

I purchased an XFX R7970 Black Edition DD Overclocked graphics card a few months ago and I was quite happy with the speeds in games and such but after reading a few threads I noticed people were pretty happy with the performance you can get from overclocking the card.

I'm currently sitting at a default 1050/1500 and after attempting to overclock the card past 1100 GPU clock the drivers crash during gameplay and I'm sitting at over 75c temperatures. My question is if my card is currently pushed to the limit or I'm just doing something wrong? Also this card is very very loud and I'm close to just switching it out for a GTX670 because of this, is the noise normal for this type of card?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Are you still happy with the card's performance? If so, then why overclock?

If you genuinely enjoy overclocking for its own sake, then that's one thing. Some people enjoy the process of tweaking and testing their hardware. It can be fun. But if you're just looking to achieve some arbitrary number in a benchmark or in GPU-z, then skip it.

That goes double if you don't like the amount of noise the card makes. Overclocking's only going to exacerbate that problem.
