Re-getting windows 8

Six months before I have purchased a HP notebook with pre-installed windows 8.Two days before it is not starting windows.Then I went to HP Service center,they told that the hard disk is failure and want to replace it. But they told you will loose all data and windows 8 also. Can I get windows 8 . I have activation key of my windows 8 in my hand. Is any warranty for windows 8 in hp laptop.Please gave me one solution.

All they meant with that is that all installed programs and data on the HDD would be lost. If you have HP replace the HDD, and it's under warranty, you will get a copy of the OS reinstalled on the drive. It would be like if you reinstalled Windows 8... fresh install.

The cost of your computer includes the cost for a licensed copy of Windows 8. You are guaranteed that. HP's warranty covers this for 1 year if issue is caused by hardware failure. Outside of that they can sell you a set of recovery disks/USB drive for a fee if not covered under warranty.
