Radeon HD 6850 underperforming?

Hi all,
I recently upgraded from an HD 5770 to a HD 6850. However I am not noticing any performance increase at all. Hell, it can't even play World of Warcraft on max settings without dropping below 30 fps every 10 seconds. Is something amiss or have I just wasted 90 Pounds on something I thought was a worthwhile upgrade?
Thanks.

It is a better card but not by a huge amount, but WOW is usually hit more to the CPU when there is lots going on, not the GPU so much.

You need to upgrade 3 tiers above to get a worthwhile increase, your upgrade was only 1 tier above:

What is the rest of your system specs?

Open task manager and MSI afterburner. Show the graph in msi afterburner. Play the game where the FPS is low, then tab out to windows and see what is being hit hardest.

If you have one CPU core hitting around 90-100% then you have a CPU bottleneck. If its the GPU hitting 90-100% then its the GPU that is bottlenecking.

You went up roughly to twice the graphical power.

The thing that is actually holding back your fps is your cpu, you need to overclock.

3.8 - 4ghz is the ideal. Of course you are going to need an aftermarket cpu cooler IF your motherboard supports overclocking.

Post back with your mobo specs.

WOW is a cpu hog, all online games are.

Good luck.
