Hi there guys,

I'm having a slight issue. :( I got a new LCD TV today, it's a Sony Bravia BX350. My current PC setup is as follows;

Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 (3.90GHz)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile (16384MB, 4 x 4096 DDR3-SDRAM, 1600MHz)
Hard Drive(s): 1x OCZ Vertex 3 (120GB), 1x Seagate 3TB HDD, 1x Western Digital HDD, 1x Seagate 2TB HDD.
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H (Rev. 1.1)
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Video Card: ASUS HD 7970 DirectCU II (GDDR5, 384-BIT, 3GB)
Monitor: 32" Sony Bravia BX350
Speakers: Logitech G35 (7.1 Surround Sound)
Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow 2013 (Mechanical)
Mouse: Razer Ouroboros (8200dpi 4G)
Computer Case: Coolermaster Cosmos II

Now my GPU doesn't have a HDMI port, which given its specs and price is quite crazy (but it makes up for that with its 5 display ports, of which my LCD TV has no support for) so luckily I was provided an HDMI to DVI connector to which I can attach to my GPU...

Now here's the issue, each time I try to play any audio or video file, every 10-20 seconds there will be a 0.5ms pause, like a stutter, then it will go away and repeat. Now the funny thing is in games that issue is non-existent, tested with several games infact.

At first I thought it was the AMD Audio drivers, as I heard they cause issues, since it was extremely bad when they were installed (every 5 seconds it'd stutter) so I removed them and hey, slightly better...

Next I thought it was my audio/video player (VLC) so I removed that too, along with an ffdshow driver I installed, rebooted, nada...

I thought it was my VIA drivers, as they caused issues with my Logitech headset (drivers) so I removed that too, left with just Windows default audio drivers... Still nothing.

I would like to note that even though I removed the AMD Audio drivers from the device manager the audio devices still show up in the audio section of the control panel...

But what I really don't get is how can it work perfectly in games (GPU rendering?) but in Windows itself it causes this issue... And it is with most sounds, even the log off/on sounds and the shutting down sound...

Is there anything I can do? Is it a driver issue? Is it the HDMI cable, or the fact that I'm running a connector from HDMI to DVI? I know the cable I have is quite crappy, and I'm waiting for my super-speed 16.7Gps (1.4a) cable to arrive, but I mean if it works in games it means it is working, no?

By the way, I forgot to mention this but I am of course referring to the audio coming from the TV itself, no other audio devices are plugged into my PC, not even my Logitech headsets. I have the TV set to HDMI and as far as I can tell it is in PC mode, the audio is set to (auto) but having it on PC audio or HDMI audio makes no difference...

If anyone needs any information to help me further, like settings on the TV etc, please do let me know and I'll gladly post back as this issue is really bugging me when listening to music or watch my favourite series/movies. :(

P.S: Just tested on YouTube now, and for some reason it actually works without an issue!! So I am actually so lost, its like Windows based applications only? I have no explanation, if anyone could assist I'd be really grateful! :)

Hey guys! I have an update to this post...

So I did a lot of tests here and there, uninstalled all audio drivers, including mobo ones, headset ones, etc, as well as GPU drivers, and lo and behold, issue resolved! Audio plays fine, no issues whatsoever. Now I reinstall ONLY the AMD software suite, with catalyst etc (without audio drivers) and sadly the stutter in audio playback is back...

Here's the must weirdest thing ever, may temporarily help someone like me, but if you go to the My Digital Flat-Panels in the Cataylst Control Center and click on LCD Overdrive you will notify your scheme turns to windows basic, that's fine, now exit it all and when you try play an audio or video file there is no more audio stutter!! I dunno how the hell that fixes it, but it does...

I'm gonna try disable all startup items in msconfig and see if it still happens, then afterwards I will uninstall the AMD suite and install ONLY the GPU drivers, sadly. :( If this still doesn't fix the problem, then I sure as hell dunno what to do, but keep doing this "temporary fix" as it works fullproof until you restart Windows.

I will also see what happens what I set my scheme to Windows basic, maybe that works as well, maybe Aero is doing some funky stuff...

If anyone else has something to add, please, don't be shy! :)
