MicroCenter Intel deal

Yeah, it's gotta be 7-8 months now. I remember getting an email from them about the ~$230 i7 in like October.

Hard to say. Eventually perhaps.

If you want to build now, I'd probably just snap up the current deal on the Ivy chip. Haswell only represents, at best, about a ~10% performance increase by all accounts, so it's not like waiting will pay off in any significant or even necessarily noticeable sort of way.

On the other hand, if you were planning to wait regardless, you might want to do that. Just know that there's always a better deal around the corner, no matter when you buy.

@Fulgurant I wanted to wait and see what happens but I thought I read somewhere else that Sandy bridge didn't drop very much when Ivy came out and I can't see MC offering anything too much better and still making decent money off Ivy. I also wanted a GTX 780 but i think instead I'll get the 7870 w/4 games and see what happens when 770 and others come out.

Well, actually guys - the i5-3570k deal is actually very recent (May 16 approximately). It used to be $189.99 at Microcenter but they lowered the price to $169.99 around May 16.

Also, in February I think it was "BYOC Month" (Build Your Own Computer Month) and so therefore they were selling the i5-3570k for $169.99.

However, in March the price went back up to $189.99.

I'm pretty sure that they are going to raise the price again, back to $189.99 - So I would get one before price goes up again
