I just installed new fx 8350. My idle temps are at 42 which is super high. I have heard that this chip runs super hot and that the hyper 212 which i have now is not strong enough to cool it. I have been looking into closed water cooler. I was wondering if their is a major difference in cooling when it comes to single close water cooling like this one( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181036 ) comapred with a water cooler with double fans like this one ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181032 ). Is there a drastic cooling difference between the two. On a side note i am not adding anything else to the water cooler loop so it will only be cooling the cpu.

It also depends on your other components as well as your case ventilation. I had a 7870 XT in my case with the same cpu/cooler, however OCd up to 4.5 Ghz, and was getting 33C idle, and when I sent it off for RMA popped in an old 4850 that I had (that thing runs HOT, 80C idle!!) and the temp of my processor went up to about 39C idle.

Currently i have 7 case fans, including 2 fans on my hyper 212. Also have evga gtx 670 ftw but its enclosed casing and its blowing out, my gtx 550 ti is being used as a dedicated psyuch x which has an open casing, i think that might be the problem. But either way which cooler is better and worth buying.

I use a corsair H80 to cool my 8350 and it idles at 28 degrees in a coolermaster storm enforcer case. The room temperature is 24 degrees.

At first to 4.4 and at idle it ran a couple of degrees warmer, but i put it back to stock as it does not seem to need oc to perform well.

They only have the refurbed model on newegg, should i trust the refurb? The refrub got top ratings on newegg and all the reviews said it works great?

I have a 8350 plugged into a ga990fxa, minor OC to 4.6. I use a Corsair 80i water cooling system with Corsair Link. Idle temps are 30-34C, after several hours of P95 I may see 52C, that's with all eight cores running the torture test.

I did need to add cooling to the northbridge, ther oem heatsink didn't get the job done so I installed a ThermalTake copper cooler with 40mm fan, problem solved

I said this in another thread but it seems relevant here - I think there might be problems on the production line with these chips. Both myself and a friend of mine have the 8350 and ran them on stock coolers (I still do). His ran at 30-40c idle and it overheated on load and that was with third party thermal paste. I run mine on the stock cooler with stock paste at 11c idle and no more than 40c under a high load. these are base clocks though, so don't take this as gospel.

So I got the h80 cooler an now my idles are at 24c so not too bad. The prob I'm having now I my north bridge heat on my gigabyte 990fx-ud3. 100 percent of the time it's hotter then my cpu which only hits max 45c now. The north bridge hits 55c now. And on top of it I have 8 case fans not including the 2 fans on h80 radiator. I tried to manually set up a fan to blow in north bridge but have no more room due to the radiator setup. Btw have the 3850 oc to 4.3 and very stable, temps of te chip are very stable to now due to h80 But now I have to deal with the northbridge

Before anyone says, I know it isn't amazing software but check out HWmonitor from CPUID. It will show the core temp as well as something called the CPUTIN. This was my friends problem when it was overheating. The cores themselves were going to 60-70 (no higher than 70) but the CPUTIN was showing temps of 100c. This was on his Mobo and mine so yeah just give it a check and reply.

Thats what I use to but I have tmnp0 tmnp1 and tmnp2. Tmnp 1 is my system temp and tmnp2 is is cpu and I have quadruple checked my temps with bios and thy both are up to par with my bios temps. Bios also shows same systems temp and cpu temp. My system temps is what is hitting 55 c under load in both bios and hw monitor. I did some research and found out that the system temp is usually the north ridge and Vrm temp.

Sorry, I wasn't very specific. The CPUTIN should be one or two categories above the CPU temps. Check that? It could be a motherboard fault but I doubt that. I would check my own but I'm having my own problems right now and only have access to a laptop which doesn't show me much. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

what the 11C is is the core temp as read by coretemp or AMD overdrive, and is generally inconsistent and incorrect.

My tower is under my desk so I suspected there was not good air flow so I moved it out to the side of my desk ad my temps on prime now max at 45 to 49 C with a 4.5 ghz. It's crazy how muc lower my temps are just from moving the tower.

Problem solved then haha, I used to have my Athlon running on a stock cooler with both of my case panels off at about 20-30 idle and on load so it is quite effective when there is airflow. To those commenting on my temps, I do have an open air case (Aerocool Strike X Air). MadCrateBuilder, that's quite interesting, I might invest in some temp monitors to double check. Seems pretty accurate though, I could keep cheese in my case for a good month I reckon.
