Cannot port forward with a Actiontec M1000 modem and a Belkin wireless router.

I have tried almost everything with this to port forward, and for some reason, it just can never seem to work. EVER. I've tried different programs to see what can be fixed, yet I don't know what is wrong with my port forwarding. I don't want to pay for PFConfig and I don't know what's wrong with my router. I use a DSL connection from the wall, then it goes into my modem, then the external cord connects to my router. Help!

your connection from the wall makes no difference - the Only thing that matters is setting up the router properly with the computer you want to have access

have you gone through the manual instructions on how to set it up?

I don't think it came with a manual, if so, I can't find it, though I think there is still the manual for the belkin router

Yes but the thing is, it probably didn't expect ROUTERS to be made at the time, so I would probably need help from something bigger. And trust me, I've used the internet to search for help for this and it was nearly impossible for me to find anything that would work.
