I am planning on buying three monitors to add to a rig I built about a year ago. I was wondering about this Eyefinity vs crossfire vs any other options for gaming. I would like the ability to use each monitor for something different at times, but mostly I would like to see my game stretch across all three. My build is listed below, and here are the monitors(ASUSVS229H-P):

I currently have only one HD6850. Is this able to handle the 3 monitors with ease? If not, should I look into Crossfire, or a better card?

I am aware of the Display Port use for Eyefinity and don't mind buying the adapter.

And when I get it running, what kind of problems have you had with the edges of the screen that touch; landscape vs portrait?

| ASUS Maximus V Gene | Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz | SAPPHIRE
Radeon HD 6850 1GB | Rosewill HIVE-750w 80 PLUS BRONZE | G.SKILL Ripjaws
Series 4 x 4GB | Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB 5900 RPM 64MB Cache | COOLER
MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 with 120mm fan on each side. | Plus loadsof blue led case fans :p

Think you'd need a better GPU.

You have to remember that 3 of those screens means the GPU rendering 3 x 1920 x 1080p.

That's a lot. The 1GB frame buffer (aka RAM) of that GPU will have to store all that res.

Generally I'd say look into a better card (and give us a budget). Because even if you got 3

HD 6850s with 1GB RAM, each one wouldn't store only 1 screen. Each one will still store the texures

from all 3 screens. Thus, get a better GPU, with more RAM.

Well, I can wait to make some extra cash. I would like to stay at 1080p. That is very important to me. I wouldn't want to stare a game that looks fuzzy stretched across three screens. Haha. I am going to look into it, where would the GPU RAM need to be; 2GB? 4GB?
