my cpu heats up when rendering sony vegas then shuts down?

Greetings,
I have an AMD FX 4100 CPU and I can use my computer with no problem when I am just searching on the web and streaming videos. However, when I try to render sony vegas videos, my cpu temperature goes from 30 Celsius to 80 Celsius. My CPU usage goes from 10% to 85%. After the rendering reaches about 30%, my computer shuts down. Should I buy a new heatsink? I am using the stock heatsink. Or should I reapply my thermal paste? Assistance is appreciated, thanks guys and have a nice day.

Get some thermal paste, remove heatsink, clean processor's IHS and heatsink with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth/rag/etc., apply dot of thermal paste on processor, reseat heatisnk.

Well this is not the first time I'm witnessing a AMD FX 4100 getting bumped up like this. Hopefully your one won't be added in the negativity list. Yes, do reapply my thermal paste and see if it changes anything. That's the primary step. And provide more infos like what is the idle temp? Do you play games? What's the temp while you're playing a game? Does this only happen when you're rendering videos at Sony Vegas? Get a burn test result too if you can. I myself need rendering videos and I also do it in Sony Vegas but with a c2d. Never anything like this occurred though.

Idle temp is the temperature when PC has nothing opened right? It is like 20c idle but today was weird it went to 50c when I was only on Facebook. I don't play games at all. And yes CPU gets up to 80c only on Sony Vegas. I'm not sure if this problem would still occur if I rendered through a different program. Also what is a burn test result? I will reapply my thermal paste

what's your average room TEMP? and i have a FX-8350, and my idle TEMPS are between 3C and 6C
when i render videos through Sony Vegas it go's up to 15C-20C
and while under FULL LOAD i get temps around 25C or sometimes even less :/
i'm sure it's your Heatsink considering mines watercooled.
what heatsink do you have? and what's your rooms average temperature?
