Skyrim - Intel R working over Radeon HD

Hello :), I have spent the last few hours trying to get skyrim to use my radeon HD 7670M, but no matter what I do I can't get this card to show in the the skyrim options window. The only card it uses and shows is the Intel R HD Graphics 4000, and because of this skyrim only runs on low settings, which is really annoying when I know I have the potential for much more.

After looking through numerous posts with different solutions such as setting the skyrim launcher and my laptop to high performance through AMD catalyst, I have still not managed to get it working.

So if anyone has any ideas at all they I would be incredibly thankful....even if they don't work.

(My laptop is windows 8 BTW)

(I have just noticed that when setting the the applications to high performance through Catalyst Control Centre it was doing this on the intel card not the AMD, as I can't select the radeon card in this program either). (I know I have the other graphics card because of device manager).
Thanks :)

This is a common problem with mobile AMD video cards.

AMD GPUs meld seamlessly in Crossfire with AMD APUs, but when an AMD GPU is used with an Intel microprocessor the active display adapter must be selected. If you are seeing "Intel HD Graphics 4000" in the Skyrim dialog that means that the Intel IGP is currently driving the display, not the HD 7670M. Your laptop should have a function key to switch between the two. It may also be done from the Catalyst control center. If you can't find a way to do it from within Windows, try changing it in the system setup when you first power on your laptop.

This seems like good information and I believe it, but I am not sure how to change this using the function button, system setup or catalyst Control Centre.

check your laptop's manual or google around. It's called "AMD switchable graphics"
