So I am upgrading my pc to a Radeon 7970 and I am wondering if since I'm going to play battlefield 4 if I should wait to get my card when battlefield is out so I get the game free or go ahead and get it and enjoy it.

I usually get an item if I need it now instead of waiting. Besides there is no guarantee that AMD will be offering that game for free anyway. If you do go ahead and get a 7970 get a Sapphire version they seem to be the best when it comes to AMD/ATI GPU's and I have never had one fail yet and have had every high end AMD/ATI GPU since the 3850(AGP). And every one of them are still running in a rig and all still working.

If you aren't having performance issues at the moment, holding off on an upgrade is nigh-always a good idea. The longer you wait, the more new hardware will be available, and thus the more potential there is for better value for money. However, it's not worth months on an underperforming card, so if your current rig isn't cutting it, I would upgrade now.

Amd has already confirmed they will be offering battlefield 4 with their 7 and 8k's.
