did i break my cpu?

so i have recently built my pc i got my motherboard and cpu and all parts i have a intel pentium g2020 i was putting in my cpu and then when i started to close the latch it was making a screeching sound like snapping or something like that so i took cpu out and tried agin and same thing happened so third time i put cpu in and pushed all the way down it was still making the sound when pushing then i put heat sink on and i gave my computer to technician to wire it up he did that and installed my gpu and ram when i got home and plugged it up i was all excited and then computer turned on and stayed on for a long time but nothing came up on screen i plugged vga into gpu and then i unplugged coz nothing came up so i plugged into motherboard still screen said no signal and i took gpu out and still same problem so i don't know what to do i think i ether broke my cpu or motherboard well at least thats what the technician said but then i took heat sink off and put it back on and plugged it in and turned computer on and computer starts but cpu fan doesnt then it starts a second latter then in like 10 or 15 seconds computer turnes it self of i dont know what it is because i dont see whats on screen please help me if you can thanks

Good news. If you broke your CPU or motherboard, it wouldn't boot. If you gave a list of all your parts, GPU, PSU, and Motherboard, it will help a lot more to figure stuff out. I prob won't be on much longer, but that info you give, someone else will more than likely help you out. (To me it sounds like a PSU problem, either it is defective, or you just bought a cheap, no name PSU)

gigabye Hd 7750 2 gb dd3
intel pentium g2020 lga 1155
tp -link 300mbps wireless network pci adapter
areo cool 550 w vp-500 psu
and 1.5 tb hdd wd caviar green and a blue led fan and a stock cooler master fan
case coolermaster k280

i already took put the gpu and did what u said still nothing came up and i tryied on intergrated graphics still nothing came up do u have skype so i can show you what going on mate

No I don't. When you turn on the computer, does the BIOS screen come up or absolutely nothing happens?

Edit: Never mind. I see you said it turns on, and shuts off when nothing comes up on screen. It could be something else I can not figure out, or...it could very well be the motherboard is defective, or ...the CPU. It's rare, but CPU's do come dead on arrival (DOA). Maybe someone else will have a second opinion and help you out. Sorry I am of no further use, I tried : (

nothing happens now it turns on and turns off and i put the speak on the motherboard and it only makes one beep
