Hello,

Around 3 months ago I gathered some of my cash and finally put together a decent rig for myself:

Now, I have myself:
AsROCK Z77 EXTREME
i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz with Stock HeatSink
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600MHz
2GB Galaxy 680 GPU
Corsair HX750 Watt Gold PSU
1.5TB Western Digital HDD
C70 Gunmetal black case

Although this is a massive step up from my previous rig, I'm still finding that I'm just off the mark of achieving playable fps in some games, with all possible graphics maxed (yes, I am a high graphics nutcase, and no, I won't take "lower your graphics settings" as an answer); Skyrim (with my countless number of mods), BF3, Sniper Elite, Hitman Absolution, Chivalry, Borderlands 2... And so with a little more cash floating round, I've been looking to achieve my first ever SLI build.

Here's my problem.

I live in a fairly remote part of Queensland, Australia, and even though money isn't a problem for me, I don't like to spend more money then I need to on excess postage. I've always bought my hardware from www.pccasegear.com, who post to my area for a relatively low price; most other retail/web stores either charge too much for postage or just ask ridiculous prices for their postage, and not long after I bought my rig my gpu was delisted from PCCG.

Today, they listed this gpu:

As well as relisting my current gpu:

Now my question is, can I, or can I not, combine each of one of these cards in SLI in my system? I know it would be somewhat pointless due to the fact that SLI-ing cards of different clocks will limit the card with the higher clock to that of the card with the lower clock, but each card has different power consumption rates and slightly different specs in some areas, so is it possible?

Thanks in advance,

-Tom

Yes you can combine GTX 680s from different OEMs. As long as they are using the same GPU they are compatible. I have an SLI with GTX 470s from PCNY and Galaxy; one card is reference (PCNY) and the other a cut down (Galaxy).

You will also have to use a program like MSI afterburner to sunc the clock rates of the two cards. When I set up the SLI I set the clock to (slightly) OC the pair.
