Hello.

After long time, I need your help again.

I have a computer with Windows 7 Enterprise on it. But unfortunately they are not legal. That is why I bought Windows 7 Professional Genuine SP1 pack, so I can make it legal.

On my comp I have two disks, C: which is SSD and D: disk. On my C: there are all the program files. D disc is only storage

Now my question is, what is best way to do this. I have never done this before and I am very afraid of doing it. Don't wanna mess anything. I will backup a few files and stuff from C: disc too

a) should I format C: and than through startup somehow install disc?

b) should I use instrucion on the DVD manual of genuine, where it says just to insert DVD and select custom installation so the system gets reinstalled?

Also... if I do a) or b), does D: disc stays untouched?

What else should I do?

Thanks for any help I will get.

Anja.

You should chose the disk which you want to keep ( i would recommend D as you prob want windows on ur ssd) and then copy all the files (you want to save) to that hard disk. Then unplug that hard disk to make sure it cant be damaged (this is optional but it will eliminate the possibility of you accidentally wiping it during setup.
Then insert the windows install Cd chose custom and make sure to install windows over the current C: drive (or current D if you want that to become c)

If you chose to install this new version of windows over the C drive it will format it as part of the installation program however it wont format you other hard disks.

OK. Today is the day, when I am formatting the disc. But just before I started, I got to another question.

I have Wester digital external discs on my computer, connected with USB. Now, if I unplug them from computer, will they show up normally on my new formated computer, when I plug them back? Will formated disc recognise them as an external disc without problems?
(i ask this, since I backed up some files on external disc)
