Phenom X4 965 Black, Asus M5A97 R2.0 and 2 4gb sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MhZ

I have read several mixed opinions about running 1600Mhz RAM with a Phenom X4 965 processor. I know the processor supports 1333 however the motherboard supports the 1600 and the Corsair Vengeance is on the MB supported RAM list. Does anyone have any experience with this combo?

  1. Hi
I don't see any problem there, the worse that can happen is memory is a bit overkill for cpu but no biggie.
I f you plan to overclock, your ram will provide room for that.

I build a few of them with that ram and everything worked fine
  2. Thanks! I thought it would be OK but I had read that some people get the BSOD and random reboots.
    Thanks for your input!
  3. Don't worry, it should work fine. :)
