Hi all,

I have a laptop with a preloaded windows 7 home premium, and i just landed a job at an office where they have a server with windows server 2008, and a domain for all the office computers that run Windows 7 Pro.

I just mainly need to print from my laptop on any of the printers in the office

and if possible be able to log on to our cargo software that is hosted on the server running windows server 2008

any help? thanks in advance

Yes only the Professional/Enterprise versions of Windows can join a domain.

For what you want to do though joining the domain might not be necessary. If the printers are network printers you should be able to access them as long as you are connected to the network. Just find out their IP and add them as a normal network printer.

Your cargo software I can't say - I have no idea how it works. If you are lucky you may only need read/write access to the data folder, which wouldn't require you joining the domain.
