Smarter to save for a gtx 680 upgrade or SLI?

I currently have the GTX650 ti boost SC and gameplay on it is very nice, but since I started recording and streaming my gameplay I would like a better performance, as well as I just started using two HD monitors for gaming and editing on SVP11.

Obviously I am asking this because money is tight and that does weigh the options differently but hear me out...

Based on this Article

It seems going with the SLI method would be smarter and cheaper.
However they tested it on a stronger rig then mine (at least CPU wise)

I am just wondering if my current set up would be worth going for the 680 or the SLI option.

Specs: (off the top of my head)

Mid atx case

corsair vengeance 8gb 1600mhz

GTX 650 TIB SC

550 watt PSU

H55 liquid cooling

intel i5-3330 QC 3.0ghz (stock speed)

ASUS P8Z77-V pro

1TB seagate HDD

* If I missed anything let me know and cheers for the info mates!! :)

I already purchased the above.

This was my set up as a base PC, I am going to pump upgrades into it as i get more money! after the GPU it will be the CPU

Your CPU is fine. I would def get single card not SLI. GTX770 looks like a winner in your circumstance if it is priced at $400 as rumored. I think as soon as 770 is out there would be a nice price drop in 680 for sure. So hold on for now

Nvidia themselves officially announced the 770 with a MSRP of $399. But that includes their expensive reference cooler (actually a very good cooler). When EVGA/MSI develop their own coolers for it that are cheaper the price should actually go down, I bet to about $375
