Hello People,

I have following Problem: My PC starts (fans are running, lights are on etc etc) but I don't get any signal on the Monitor.

I checked the Monitor with my netbook --> it works perfectly
The PSU seems to be fine, too. Because I checked the voltages and they are normal.
I also checked the memory by trying to boot with every single Card.
I tried also to boot with another Graphic Card, and nothing...

Sometimes there is the OK beep, and some there is no beep...
I'm out of ideas and need your help.

I just did shut it down normal one night and the next day this happened...no display...
A few days ago (I just left the PC turned off for some days while I was thinking of how to fix it), I turned it on and it suddenly worked!! for a couple of minutes... :( Everything froze, so I restarted it and again the same problem appeared...

PLEASE!! HELP ME!! I WOULD BE SO THANKFUL!

What video card are you using? Did you try with integrated graphics instead?

Boot the PC with minimum configuration. Remove all peripherals (except keyboard). Inside the PC, disconnect the optical drive, and all no essential components, remove the video card and hook the monitor to integrated graphics, remove all expansion cards, you can even remove the hard drive(s) and see if you're at least able to display the BIOS on the monitor. If it works, start from there by reconnecting components one by one to see which one is defective.

I just went through something similar the other day, and it did turn out to be the PSU....What you're experiencing really sounds like the issue I had....Do you have a different power supply that you can put in there? What is the model of your current one?

Problem is...I dont have any onboard graphics, but I can try doing it with the Graphic Card still inside, maybe it works.

Its a 350W ATX PSU from EDNET. Its reaaaally old. But as I said, I checked every single voltage and it seems to work fine.

You could potentially be overloading the power supply, which would cause some of your components to not get the power that they need - which would cause the issue that you described. Google a component calculator to see how much power your system needs, then compare it to your power supply. Have you put your list of components into a wattage calculator to see how much power your system actually needs?

http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/ - Try this one out, but make sure that you're inputting ALL of your components....

First of all, thank you very much for your advise.
The calculator gives me the value of 374 W, so maybe I should buy 550 W or so ;P
But I dont understand why it worked fine for two months (for me, for the last owner it worked for years) and it decided to stop working now...

Usually, you want to try to go for a power supply that is about 2x your current requirement - so you'd probably want to go for a 650-750w....But learn from my mistake: you get what you pay for with power supplies. Initially, I went with a cheap Thermaltake TR2-600w, and that died out with only 430w worth of components, along with an overclocked 550ti video card, and an overclocked E8500 CPU.

So the moral of this story is this: don't go cheap on the important parts of a PC. Also, the amount of watts it produces isn't the only important spec of a PSU....Look into the requirements of your components and make sure that the supply will be able to support them. For video cards, you have to look at how many amps they need, along with the amount of wattage they require. If you need some more help, I'm more than happy to give it!

Sounds even more like a bad power supply to me then....When my issue first became noticeable, I had just installed a new GTX 650, then my displays stopped showing up. I put my original 550ti back in, and got the same problem. The next day, I took the GTX 650 back and went and got a new power supply, installed it, and no problems since. No offence intended to the other people offering advice, but personally, I don't believe in always telling people to get a new motherboard....My advice, get a decent 650w-750w "80+ Bronze Certified" Power Supply and get that installed....I'll bet it solves your problem.... :)

Hello there, it is basically because of RAM error, change your ram and it this will correct your problem

It's not like that when ram is not functioning well display will be black for always, but some times display will come up correctly and sometime it will not come up as expected.

Thanks
