Recover Files From Windows 8 using windows 7

I connected an hdd that as windows 8 installed on my windows 7 computer, but i can´t access the files. It says to inicialize the windows 8 hdd, but i dont want to lose any files.
How do I recover files from an hdd with windows 8 using my windows 7?

the windows 8 hdd is fine. I just want to know how to access it in windows 7. Sometimes I help friends/family with their computers I don´t want to migrate to windows 8. To make their backups over LAN can take too long.

There is no error in the windows 8 HDD. I have even re-installed windows 8, without any problems. The windows 8 works fine, but if i connect the windows 8 HDD to another computer with windows 7 I cannot access it´s files. It´s not that there is no drive letter assigned, it simply says to inicialyze the hdd and if I do that it deletes the partition. Can windows 8 HDD´s be read by windows 7?
