Ill be gaming at 1440x900.
confused btween- gtx660 and HD7850...and maybe -7870. (if i get to keep my current PSU)

1. If the current tr2 500w is enuf for the 7870, would it be alright to keep it, considering the fact that i ve used it for over two year now.

2. is 7870/660/7850 close to 2x5850 performance wise (in the more recent game engines)?
i ve never upgraded to a card that wasnt roughly twice the previous card.

3. is the upgrade worth ryt now?

4. Will hd7870 be bottlenecked in my current spec-

Motherboard: Gigabyte H55M-USB3CPU: Intel Core i7 860 @stock 2.8GHz (TT Frio OCK cooled).RAM: a-DATA 2*2GB 1333MHzHard Drive: 1 TBGraphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD5850 1GB ddr5Display: Samsung 19 inch LCDSound Card: Built-inSpeakers/HPs: Creative 5.1 ll Nokia BT stereo 503 ll Nokia BT Stereo 505Keyboard: A4tech GamingMouse: A4tech X7 Gaming Oscar edition.Controller: Xbox 360 black wired ll USB generic Red.Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 500W. its got (14A+15A) on dual 12v rails.

1. The psu you got, would be enough to handle any of the cards you mentioned above including 7870.
2. The 5850 was a legend. It was a really good card. But 7870 is another one. It is too a very good one. SO hopefully it's going to outperform 2x5850.
3. It's up to you. We got GTX 700 series coming pretty soon. GTX 780 is already released. By the budget you got , you can easily get a GTX 760 then. But remember this, we also said the price of GTX 780 would be similar to GTX 680; maximum it would be increased $20-$50. But it's now relelased with a price tag of $650. SO it's totally up to you whether you wanna wait now for the GTX 760 or go with the 7870 already. I'd go with the 7870 now.
4. No your system will handle the card pretty well.

And BTW 7870 is going to be a killer card with res you got there.

7870 uses the same amount of power as the 660 and is faster both uses about the same power as the 5850 you have. Niether is a 2x increase you are expecting. You would be getting probably a 50% increase in performance, substantial but not 2x 5850. I'd wait to upgrade if I were you.

this is the 7870, its about 40% faster in bf3 than the 5870, about 50 faster than the 5850 then.

the 6870 is slightly faster than the 5850, you can see you will gain almost 50% improvement in an upgrade but not 2x improvement.

Well in newer games the difference is going to increase at an extent. Like if you see in Dirt 3 (Ultra, 1920x1200) the 7870 gives +104 fps where the 5850 settles at +57. In Batman: Arkham City (1920x1200, Extreme Quality, 4xAA) The 7870 settles at 71 fps where the 5850 stands at 26 fps.

Thanks for your time. I ll definitely keep them in mind. I ve decided to keep my 5850 for now and wait for the 8xxxx cards to come out.
