Hello,

I just upgraded my processor to an AMD Phenom II 965be and it's idling at 45 degrees! Is this normal or is there a fault with the chip/my bios? Under Prime 95 it hits 55-58 degrees.

This is also running at stock 3.4ghz and isn't over-clocked yet.

I'm using a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo and Arctic MX-4 thermal paste which is applied correctly (grain of rice then let the cooler spread it).

The case has good cooling as well (4x intake fans at the front and sides, 3x exhaust fans on the top and back)

Ambient temperature is around 20 degrees here so I have no idea why the chip is running so hot, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Okay just went into the bios and the core voltage was listed as 1.45v, could this be the issue?

Could you recommend a good voltage to set it to in order to reduce the temperature?

I'm hoping to overclock it to 3.8ghz but for now I'll settle with it running cooler!

Cheers
