Basically my fan/ heat sink are broke so I have ordered a new cooling system for the graphics card. Will it be safe to run without a fan for a few days?

You MIGHT get away with it if you keep it at idle.
Don't run anything that uses GPU acceleration.

In any case I strongly advise against it.
Also you said "my fan/ heat sink are broke". I hope this means the heatsink is intact and still mounted to the GPU. If not, do not even power it on.

Absolutely not... Unfortunately. It will get cooked and the parts of the GPU that doesn't have good thermal monitoring that triggers shutdown (VRMs come to mind) will get toasted.

By running the card fanlessly, you are literally playing with fire. You know how hot a 100W light bulb gets when you leave it on for while ? That's how hot your video card will be (internally) when you run it fanless, since everything these days are GPU accelerated even if you don't game (like the Aero desktop composition, all video streams including Flash and H.264, etc...).

That should be safe. I assume the card is out of the case now ? Because even if you switch to onboard (IGPU in the BIOS) and swapped the monitor cable, the card will still be powered on unless you remove it from the system...

What happened ?

Basically I caught something in the fan and it smashed up the fan blades. So I need a new cooling system. Which is annoying :) ordered a icy vision from eBay so should be up and running soon.
