The motherboard I'm planning to get has PCIe 2.0, not 3.0. The GFX card I plan to get, Radeon HD 7770, supports PCIe 3.0. Now I know that the card is backwards compatible so it will work fine in the 2.0 slot. However I read that ASUS released some motherboard's with PCIe 3.0 slots. My question is, is it worth it to spend the extra money and get a mobo that has a 3.0 slot? Will it make much of a difference?

Solution
Most GPUs cannot yet utilize the bandwidth of PCIe 2.0.
I believe only the GTX Titan and the HD 7990 are the only cards that are able to utilize the increased bandwidth of PCIe 3.0.
Any other card will work fine on PCIe 2.0.
Any cards below the Titan and 7990 are only shown to have PCIe 3.0 support for marketing reasons.
